Time: 6:30-8:00pm

Donation:
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Capital Group for their generous $250 donation. We felt privileged to be invited to The Shea Center, where we toured the facility and program, and had the opportunity to meet the Shea Center staff, members of the Capital Cares team, and representatives from other nonprofits.

Community:
Speakers Bureau officially starts mid-September!
Following the successful completion of two speaker training workshops, the website landing page, and the automated workflow, we will be prepared to begin accepting panel requests. We have already received our first two panel requests from a Human Sexuality class at Cal State Long Beach, one for an in-person session and another for a virtual session.

PFLAG Book Club:
Join us in an educational, virtual program where we can learn together and hear directly from the authors. Anyone attending our PFLAG Huntington Beach support meetings in either September or October and says expresses interest in reading the books will receive copies for free.
Book for Oct-Nov:
Shame-Sex Attraction: Survivors' Stories of Conversion Therapy, brings together 17 stories about conversion therapy, written by survivors themselves. Having received praise from a number of reviewers, like those at Publishers Weekly, the book gives voice to a number of LGBTQ+-related themes and experiences, especially in/from high-control religious contexts. As we continue to hear about conversion therapy in the news and on social media, it unfortunately remains a relevant subject to talk about and fight against.
TO BE ANNOUNCED DATE: Virtual meeting with author, Lucas Wilson PHD to be announced in our October blog post.

Book for Dec-Jan:
My Child is Trans, Now What? A Joy-Centered Approach to Support:
Purchase here. It will also be coming out in paperback on October 1st a more affordable version.
A resource guide for families, loved ones, and allies to transgender people. The book is joy-centered, focused on the experiences of transgender people, and provided tactical strategies for support.
Author, Speakers, Advocate, Ben Greene
TO BE ANNOUNCED DATE: Virtual meeting with author, Ben V. Greene to be announced in an upcoming blog post.
